Mike is a retired electrician. He has run his own business and knows first hand the struggles small business owners face. Mike served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Just getting started in these area's just have not had time to work on it. As your repesentive for Cabarrus County I will be motivated by the taxpayers not some special entrest group or a single rich person, I will represent the people. The fear of Fletcher Hartsell is to pass because a few citizens in Odell stood together and filed a complaint against Senator Fletcher Hartsell that was in the paper on Augest 9, 2007. We should be proud of these group of freedom loving people standing up for our rights. If you want one less lawyer in the State Senate, vote for Mike Helms! No immunity for inspectors, My opponent ask me what I have agaist lawyers? I will try to answer it. I spent my whole life doing electrical work. 32 years trying to do the best, safest, electrical work that I can do. You can't just put a hard hat on someone and call him a electrican. I'm personaly proud of the IBEW in their training program. No one else has class room training with on the job training like the IBEW. People's lives are at stake on any electrical job. When you put your kids to sleep at night you are taking for granted that the home is safe and your kids will wake up the next morning safe. But Bill 1143 gives the building inspector immunity, so how safe are your kids now, If a building inspector is not accountable for his actions, who is going to keep the building trades in line? The electrical contractor is putting his state license and his whole business repetition on the line on every job. That is why electrical contractors should be with the IBEW that hand pick and train their own members and have a five year training program. So if the inspectors is given immunity for his trained and paid duties. What has he to lose if he does a lousy inspection on a home, business or factory and it burns down or not build right. A lawyer is hired by a person in desparate need, because he is entering a situation that they are not trained to defend themselfs. They are putting all their faith and money in a lawyer for the best possible outcome in their situation. In my case with a lawyer they took the money and sold me out at the end. Home owners put their faith in the building inspectors, to say the home is safe for kids, but if the inspector is not accountable for his paid and trained duties. My opponent sponsored the bill 1143, so he don't care about your kids.
